ALPES GRID – AI platform to plan, size, optimize EV charging in Alpine areas

Coesione Italia 21-27 Valle d'Aosta, Cofinanziato dall'Unione europea, Repubblica Italiana, Regione Autonoma Valle d'Aosta

Project co-funded by the European Union.

The project

The project involves the creation of an advanced digital platform to support the Aosta Valley Public Administration and Charging Point Operators (CPOs), aimed at the coordinated planning and optimization of electric vehicle charging infrastructure and energy storage systems. The solution uses artificial intelligence techniques and data-driven analysis to integrate territorial, energy and mobility data and scenarios of future demand evolution.

Objectives

  • Base charging station installation choices on real data (mobility flows, charging behavior, seasonality), instead of partial or static information.
  • Support objective decisions on the location, sizing and pricing of charging stations, coordinating public planning and private investment.

Expected results

  • First phase: main platform features completed and predictive models validated on real cases, with a technology readiness level of TRL 7.
  • Second phase: industrialized and scalable platform, extended to new territorial contexts, at TRL 8.
